The importance of coaching for personal and professional development
I love working with others to help them become the best versions of themselves, so I’m a big believer in the importance of coaching. It’s something that I’ve tapped into at various points in my career, and I’m not alone in recognising its value as a tool for personal and professional development. Last month, I carried out a survey on LinkedIn to find out how my followers felt about coaching. Not surprisingly, 82% of respondents expressed a strong interest in participating in employee-sponsored coaching programs for their personal and professional development, citing confidence-building and growth as the two most significant driving forces. People also shared that they would benefit from coaching support and guidance to help them overcome common obstacles such as imposter syndrome and fear of failure.
Coaching is something that we can all benefit from, whatever our goals and whatever challenges we are facing in life or at work.
5 ways that coaching can transform your life:
1. It will improve your self-awareness: coaching will provide you with a deeper understanding of yourself and what drives you, helping you achieve personal growth.
2. It helps with goal setting and accountability: an experienced coach will help you drill down to discover what you really want in life, so that you can set meaningful, achievable goals.
3. It will improve your communication skills: coaching improves both listening and speaking skills, helping with courageous conversations and enhancing your interpersonal interactions.
4. Overcoming obstacles: coaching will help you to identify and overcome the barriers to your personal and career development.
5. Mental wellbeing: coaching is a great way to support your mental health and resilience.
Coaching and guiding others to be their best selves is a deep passion of mine, because of the transformative impact it’s had on my own life. Reach out to find out more about my 1:1 coaching service.
Self care isn't just about face masks and bubble baths
If you follow me on LinkedIn, you’ll know that self care is a topic close to my heart. I live with several chronic health conditions, which means that over the years, I’ve had to get pretty good at listening to my body’s needs. So here are my top five self care tips:
✨ Pay attention to physical sensations such as pain, tension, fatigue, or hunger.
✨ Notice and acknowledge your emotions and feelings without judgment.
✨ Practice mindfulness and be present in the moment.
✨ Prioritise rest and sleep to recharge and rejuvenate your body.
✨ Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
True self care is much more than face masks and bubble baths. It’s about knowing when to put yourself first and prioritise your own wellbeing.
